Tasmanian Female Grappling Collective
Late last year Jess Fraser came down to Tassie to hold an Australian Girls in Gi (AGIG) open mat. As usual it was a fantastic day hanging out with chicks from other clubs and having a roll and a laugh and learning some new Jiu Jitsu tricks. We all had such a great frickin time that we decided it needed to happen more often. So we organised it… and will keep organsing it… We aren’t…
Portrait shoot: Nat
A little while back I started shooting some portraits in my front room with some lights that were generously given to me by a mate. I just wanted to have a play, expand my photographic photographing a bit and see what I could do. I got hooked on the lights! But then my daughter decided her room was too small and wanted to swap… Being the good mother I am, I gave up my room. Unfortunatly her…
Portrait shoot: Fox
I keep meeting all these cute little dogs that make me want one of my own! A week or so back we went for a wander up at Knocklofty with Fox and his human David. Such a rad little puppy. Fast as a ferret and a mind of his own. So much personality crammed into one tiny little fluffy package. For info on ‘out and about’ portrait shoots check the photography page.
Portrait shoot: Zoe and Bec
I’m a bit slack in updating the latest portrait shoot. I am a terrible blogger at the best of times, so that’s my excuse. I need a minature dachshaund… If I was to get a dog, I think it would totally be one of these. Zoe is one of the best little dogs I have met! So little and cute and such a gorgeous personality. Such a mummy’s girl, would hardly leave Bec’s side, and…
Mount Misery | Still Not Miserable
Tas Field Nats ascend upon Mount Misery What a marvellous Sunday was spent wandering the tracks at Mount Misery with an equally marvellous group of people. The Field Nats last visited Mount Misery in 2018, you can read about it here. That post will give you some info on the walks and how to get there. I won’t bother repeating myself. I’m efficient like that… Back in 2018 I was going through a pretty strong fungi phase. Can’t remember if that was before or after my orchid one. Potentially…
Herbarium | Day Ten
We found this weird Stellaria up in the central plateau a while back. We didn’t really notice it was weird at first. We just kinda went ‘it’s a Stellaria, it’s probably just S. multiflora’ and then moved along looking for what we were there looking for. Which was a Senecio and some Carex. Anyways, I took some photos, because it was really cute and planned to just ID it later. Turns out, that Stellaria multiflora (both subspecies) don’t actually have flowers. Well they do, but they don’t. They don’t…
This is what I did when I was 16…
I had a pet rat called Ratticus, two green mohawks, safety pins through my ears a brown leather coat and pants held together with patches… And I used to enter my Irises into the Royal Horticultural Societies annual Rose and Iris show. I even took out a few first prizes. True story. It was on this past weekend, so we thought we would take a trip down memory lane and go and have a squizz. The usual crowd, me, mum and dad, but this time we…
