Milles Track | Mt Wellington | Spring snow

Milles Track | Mt Wellington | Spring snow I have literally only left the house once in the past 8 days, and that was for a two hour uni prac where I got to measure metabolic rates of meal worms… Snotty noses (mine) and pus covered tonsils (Mr 6 year old) have pretty much had me couch bound for too long. Friday night I decided that no matter what the weather I was going to spend some hours in the bush, maybe walk out to Wellington Falls. Or the Disappearing Tarn. Or even do Springs to the Pinnacle, ...

Mount Sprent | Mud | Thylacines

I walked up a mountain on Saturday and I managed to talk the entire way. This indicates to me that my fitness has greatly improved over the last few months. Last time I walked up a mountain I couldn’t hold a conversation, I was silent, too busy trying to concentrate on breathing and wondering if I was going to die from exertion. People often say I could talk underwater with a mouthful of marbles, and I probably could, but up until now I couldn’t talk walking up a mountain. Winning. Mount Sprent is located within the Southwest National ...

You need photos in your life and on your walls

And I need to replace the bill money which I just spent on a new Tamron 24-70mm lens…. Nah, just joking, I would NEVER spend the bill money on stuff other than bills. Well, maybe a little bit here and there, for something that I really really really really NEEDED… Like a new lens. Let’s face it, that falls under the category of ‘bills’. Bills are things that are needed for survival, shelter, food, electricity, water, photography… Perhaps… Anyway, I thought I would take this opportunity to do a bit of self promotion and point you to where ...

Cape Hauy and the Antechinus

I haven’t spent a lot of time down at the Tasman Peninsula. A few trips here and there to try and get an aurora at the Tessellated Pavement, a trip to Port Arthur with my daughters grade 5 class, and I think that pretty much sums it up it since I was a kid. I figured that since I would be spending 2 days down at Fortescue bay with uni doing ecology stuff I may as well go down early and head out to Cape Hauy for a wander. So I did. The Tasman National Park is about ...

TFGC #3 | Holy cheese balls

Saturday we had a little open mat in Launceston. However it was so much more than a little open mat. It was a freaking amazing open mat! With a whole bunch of equally freaking amazing women from all over Tasmania. I’m still a little bit mind blown at the support this little venture has garnered so far. For those of you who are sitting there wondering what this is all about, I made a post about it a little while back,  you can find it here: Tasmanian Female Grappling Collective. To cut the longer story shorter, we decided we ...

TFGC open mat number two Late last year Jess Fraser came down to Tassie to hold an Australian Girls in Gi (AGIG) open mat. As usual it was a fantastic day hanging out with chicks from other clubs and having a roll and a laugh and learning some new Jiu Jitsu tricks. We all had such a great frickin time that we decided it needed to happen more often. So we organised it… and will keep organsing it… We aren’t a team… we aren’t an organisation… we aren’t a club… we are just like a bunch of mates ...

Portrait shoot: Nat

A little while back I started shooting some portraits in my front room with some lights that were generously given to me by a mate. I just wanted to have a play, expand my photographic photographing a bit and see what I could do. I got hooked on the lights! But then my daughter decided her room was too small and wanted to swap… Being the good mother I am, I gave up my room. Unfortunatly her old room was way too small and awful and annoying. Got a few decent shoots out of it, but it was too frustrating! ...
